Creation of Socio-Civic Learning Experiences
The internships and projects that students carry out throughout their educational stage in the technical universities of Europe are not always completely aligned with the skills and abilities that will be required in the current and future world of work, nor with the integration and resolution of environmental and social problems. Under a lack of real practice, it is necessary for students to acquire the set of SOCg competencies, since, thanks to them, they will be able to adapt to any situation that arises through a holistic approach and adaptability to the environment. This is when Circular Experiences come into practice.
A Circular Experience is the result of the enhancement and learning at a personal and professional level in SOCg competences, empowering new generations of professionals working in a circular transition with a socio-citizen commitment.
The Circular Experiences are expected to impact the way in which technical university programmes across the European Union will be designed, so that the programmes are aligned with social commitment and the SDGs.
Having in mind the aim of the project – to find innovative solutions within the circular and socio-
civic framework – we suggest a debate/round table addressing a homogeneous group of experts
and the students and aiming at thinking about solutions for specific challenges.
Opportunities, real-life experiences, trainings, workshops + scholarships, study commemorative medals and awards
When invited to be part of the audience, it is important to realize that webinars have a participation
rationale, which means that you are invited to speak at the specific time. The facilitators present
will serve this purpose.
To the invited keynotes, we ask that your intervention be weighted according to the entities you
represent and refer to their relationship with circularity. Each keynote will be given a 10 minutes
to explain his or her views on this topic, and then a few moments in the debate.
SOCg Competences
The research team of the CIRCLE project has selected the Key Competences for Lifelong Learning and the GreenComp framework as European reference frameworks for transversal competences, both defined by the Council of the European Union and the European Higher Education Area (EHEA).
Given the interest in training individuals from a socio-civic perspective, the team has specifically chosen the civic competences and the personal, social, and learning-to-learn competences. The combination of these two terms results in the concept of socio-civic competences. Socio-civic competences provide students with the foundation to further develop other competences while enhancing their understanding and awareness of the environmental and social impact of professional activities.
On the other hand, the circular economy develops through the transition to environmental sustainability, which is why the full set of the European Sustainability Competence Framework, or GreenComp, has been included.
Under this theoretical framework, the CIRCLE project integrates social, personal, and learning-to-learn competences, civic competences, and the GreenComp framework into a single unified block called SOCg competences. The CIRCLE project will use the SOCg competences to create Circular Experiences while respecting shared European values.
Teams that consistently prioritize the importance of learning SOCg competences will achieve greater benefits and satisfaction from their work. Therefore, the level of development of SOCg competences is one of the main factors driving a team’s work toward maximum efficiency.
